Union defence minister launched agnipath scheme It would add 46000 new soldiers to the Indian army, air force, navy
Many other countries also have this type of short-service recruit selection. In some countries, it's mandatory to join but not in India
Entry would be for four years, hired under this scheme called as agniveer
Every year 46000 soldiers would be hired out of it, 25% retained for next 15 years commission other 75% will retire with Seva Nidhi
As a Seva Nidhi on retirement agniveers will get a corpus of 11.71 lakh and interest, which will be tax-free
The age limit of joining as agniveer will be 17.5 years to 21 year
Soldier technical – 10+2 with chemistry, physics, maths & English
Soldier clerk & storekeeper – 10+2 arts/science/commerce with minimum 50% mark
Soldier general duty – class 10 with 45%
For any post medical test is mandatory
Attractive salary with hardship and risk allowances to agniveers & Seva Nidhi on retirement after 4 year
Seva Nidhi will be tax-free & agniveer will also get non-contributory insurance cover of 48 lacs
